Safety thrives on exchange – 130 WWZ employees trained on-site

Safety is more than just an app

Around 130 employees. Multiple training sessions. Many questions. And above all: many personal interactions.

Over the past two weeks, we had the opportunity to train WWZ service and on-call staff directly on-site. The series concluded yesterday afternoon with a final training session at the headquarters in Zug.

The Uepaa Safety App has been in use at WWZ for some time. Now, licenses have been redistributed to current operational teams, bringing the topic of safety back to the forefront of daily work.

And that is exactly what became clear once again:

Safety doesn't just rely on technology. It relies on people understanding it, accepting it, and knowing how to use it at the right moment.

What actually happens if…?

You can install an app.

You can send out a manual.

But the truly important questions usually only arise during face-to-face conversations.

- What happens in the event of a false alarm?
- How does the emergency response center react?
- What happens if there is poor reception?
- When does a dead man's switch make sense?
- And how do I protect myself when I'm out on call alone?

These are exactly the kinds of questions that came up during the training sessions. And often, they led to more than just a technical answer: they sparked discussions about concrete everyday situations, experiences from past assignments, and how safety really needs to work in practice.

For us, these moments are particularly valuable.

Behind every license is a person

Every day, WWZ ensures that essential infrastructure keeps running. Electricity. Water. Gas. Heating and cooling. Telecommunications.

When a fault occurs, a system needs checking, or a technical intervention is required, service and on-call staff are on the move. Often, they are working alone or, at the very least, temporarily out of sight and earshot of their colleagues. Our Safety App provides the necessary protection during these moments.

✅ Man-down function for immobility
✅ Alarm triggering even in areas without reception
✅ Manual emergency call
✅ Alerting the 24/7 emergency response center
✅ Location transmission in the event of an incident
✅ Peer-to-peer assistance
✅ Bring Your Own Device

But behind every license, there isn't just a user account. There is a person. An electrician. A service technician. An on-call worker. A professional who takes responsibility and ensures that everything out there keeps running.

Digital is efficient. Personal remains valuable.

Many things can be handled remotely these days. Activating accounts. Distributing licenses. Installing apps. Sending out training materials. And yet, we are convinced that when it comes to safety, an on-site visit is worth it.

Because that is where conversations happen that you can hardly plan in an online meeting. You see the faces behind the operational areas. You hear where the daily challenges lie. You can address questions directly. And at the same time, we learn something ourselves.

These two weeks at WWZ were therefore much more than just a series of training sessions for us. They were a personal exchange with around 130 people who take on responsibility every single day.

Many thanks to the entire WWZ team for your openness, the many questions, and the great atmosphere during our training sessions. We wish you continued safe operations – in service, on call, and everywhere else you ensure reliable supply. And as with any good safety solution, the following applies:

It is at its best when you know it, trust it – and yet never actually need it.
