Teleflex relies on digital dead man solution

Teleflex replaces hardware dead man system with digital lone worker solution
As part of a technological renewal cycle, Teleflex has modernized its existing lone worker protection. For on-call assignments in technical service, facility management and solo work in various departments, the company is now using a mobile solution instead of dedicated hardware.
Teleflex Vascular Intervention (formerly Biotronik AG) works in a highly regulated MedTech environment where security, clear processes and traceability are key requirements.
Starting point: Proven processes, increasing equipment costs
In areas such as technical service, facility management and on-call deployments, Teleflex was already using an established dead man solution. The alarm chains and escalation processes were clearly defined and reliable in operation for years.
Over time, however, it became apparent that operating dedicated devices requires additional effort — such as device management, maintenance and replacement procurement.
The challenge was therefore to maintain the existing security processes and at the same time renew the technological basis.
Migration without process interruption
When introducing the Uepaa solution, the focus was on taking over the existing alarm chains. The established processes for on-call deployments and solo work could continue virtually unchanged.
Alerts are now sent via a mobile solution instead of separate hardware devices.
Safety for on-call missions and solo work
The solution is used in particular in the following areas:
- On-call deployments in technical service
- Facility Management
- Working alone in technical departments
Especially in these deployment situations, employees often work outside the sight or calling range of colleagues.
The mobile solution supports them with:
- 🛡️ Digital PNA in accordance with Suva 44094
- 📱 Using existing smartphones (BYOD)
- 💲 Safety as a Service with external alarm center
- 📊 Digital quality and usage evaluation
More flexibility for technical service and facility management
Especially in on-call operations, employees often work outside regular working hours or alone in technical areas.
With the mobile solution, teams benefit from:
- less device management
- easy integration of new employees
- higher flexibility in changing operating situations
A sustainable solution for the coming years
By replacing the hardware solution, Teleflex is relying on technology that remains scalable in the long term and can be flexibly adapted to organizational changes.
This creates a sustainable basis for protecting employees — particularly when working alone and on call.
