From Switzerland to the world — or even to Mars. Maxon Switzerland is a supplier of precise small motors and drive systems. However, the company, headquartered in Sachseln, in the canton of Obwalden, develops and manufactures more than just any DC motors. On February 18, 2012, NASA's Perseverance rover landed on Mars, one of the most complex robotic systems humans have ever built. Several Maxon electric drives were used to handle soil samples and control the first Mars helicopter.

To ensure that everything works on Mars and, of course, in every other product, maxon Switzerland AG has its own test laboratories, where the drive systems are subjected to the toughest tests. The components are tested, for example, for high vibrations, extreme temperatures and pressure loads, as well as brutal g-forces and impact loads. Despite the large number of colleagues, it is not always possible to ensure visual and call contact, whether during noise measurements, during motor tests, in the magnetization room or in the many laboratories and assembly departments where solo work is required.
